This is the consultation version of the report. The final version of the report will include changes we make because of the feedback we receive, and information about how we ran the consultation. The closing date for this consultation is Friday 25 September 2026.
The North Wales Population Needs Assessment provides information about the care and support needs of people in North Wales and the support needs of carers. We use it to help plan our services and set priorities for the region. This works alongside health, well-being assessments and other assessments.
We publish an assessment every five years, the last version was published in 2022. The 2027 version of the assessment is a summary of the main messages from engagement feedback, data, and research, which we are checking with people who use and provide care and support services.
We have published all the background data and research used in the Population Needs Assessment separately. These reports provide detailed charts and tables and explain any issues with data quality or availability, and include information about sources and methodologies.
Please complete our care and support survey. This survey is always open, there’s no closing date planned.

Because the report is quite long and covers so many issues we are asking you to email us with any comments or corrections rather than trying to collect information through a questionnaire. Scroll down to see downloadable versions of the consultation documents.
Some questions to help you (and us) with feedback
- Are the main messages and priorities we’ve identified the right ones for care and support services (social care)? (page 5 of the main report)
- Do the recommendations for each population group make sense? (page 7 of the main report)
- Is there anything we’ve missed?
We also appreciate your help in spotting any typos or format mistakes – but make sure you’ve included the page number and paragraph info so we know what you’re pointing out!
