North Wales Safeguarding Board Annual Report 2024–2025: Safeguarding is everyone’s business

04/08/2025

We are proud to present the Annual Report 2024–2025 from the North Wales Safeguarding Board—a comprehensive reflection on safeguarding children and adults across our region.

What did the North Wales Safeguarding Board achieve this year?

The North Wales Safeguarding Board worked hard in 2024–25 to help keep people safe. Here are some of the key things they did:

New guides for professionals

They created new guidance to help workers protect children and adults from serious harm.

Topics included:

  • Online risks – Helping children affected when adults look at harmful content online.
  • Dog safety – Keeping people safe from dangerous or poorly managed dogs.
  • Cuckooing – Spotting and helping adults who are being taken advantage of in their own homes.
  • Working together – Improving how different services, like safeguarding and addiction support, work as a team.
  • Listening to adults – Making sure the voices of people at risk are heard and respected.

National Safeguarding Week 2024

In November, the North Wales Safeguarding Board ran training sessions for professionals on important topics like:

  • How to spot and respond to complex risks like exploitation or self-neglect
  • How to work better with dads and father figures
  • The impact of gambling on women
  • Drug trends and safety in North Wales
  • The law around hoarding and self-neglect
  • Learning from real cases to do better in the future.

These achievements show how the North Wales Safeguarding Board is helping to build a safer North Wales for everyone—especially those who need extra care and protection.
