North Wales Dementia Strategy

01/05/2019

We’re starting to put together a dementia strategy for North Wales. It will be a partnership strategy written by health and social care, people living with dementia, carers and other partners. The work is being carried out by the North Wales Regional Partnership Board.

Why now?

Welsh Government have published the Dementia Action Plan for Wales and provided additional funding through the Integrated Services Fund (ICF) to deliver the action plan. We want to make sure that what we’re delivering in North Wales is contributing to achieving the aims in the action plan and is making the best use of the resources we have available. The priorities in the action plan are:

  • Risk reduction and delaying onset
  • Raising awareness and understanding
  • Recognition and identification
  • Assessment and diagnosis
  • Living as well as possible, for as long as possible with dementia
  • The need for increased support

Building on what works now

We would like the strategy to build on good work already taking place across North Wales and lessons learned from previous projects. If you have consultation reports, evaluations, strategies or plans that would help us to shape the strategy please let us know.

How to get involved

We’ll advertise events and opportunities to get involved with the strategy on our website. If you’d like us to be added to our mailing list please let us know.
