North Wales Dementia Centres

What do the Dementia Centres Offer?

The Dementia Centres offer:

  • information and advice
  • training and education
  • social history sessions
  • adapting to behavioural changes sessions
  • future planning sessions
  • guest speakers
  • emotional support
  • health clinics such as audiology/chiropody/dental/eyesight
  • long term support via peer support clubs
  • keep in touch calls

The Dementia Centres are staffed by a Dementia Coordinator part-time and supported by volunteers.

Information and advice sessions

You can attend group information sessions at one of our Dementia Centres if you are living with dementia or are an unpaid carer. One-to-one sessions are also available if you do not feel ready to attend a group session and telephone sessions are available to everyone.

Services

A variety of services are available at the Dementia Centres. Some of the centres offer services such as:

  • hairdressing
  • podiatry (care for your feet)
  • audiology (care for your ears)
  • dental checks and education
  • eyesight checks and education

Some Dementia Centres are not able to offer all of these services at this time. However, all of the Dementia Centres across North Wales are working towards offering all of these services in the future.

Activities

Some activities that are held at our Dementia Centres include:

  • exercise groups
  • mindfulness sessions
  • craft groups
  • boccia sessions
  • day trips

Guest Speakers

If you attend one of our Dementia Centres, there are opportunities to hear from a range of guest speakers including:

  • police
  • trading standards
  • dieticians
  • opticians
  • pharmacists
