Dementia and hearing loss

22/09/2021

Audiologists have known for years that hearing loss and dementia often occur together and impact on each other. Evidence shows us that undiagnosed and unmanaged hearing loss can double, triple, and even quintuple the risk of developing dementia dependent on severity of hearing loss.

The Welsh Government has given a commitment to be a dementia friendly nation, uphold the rights of people with dementia and meet diverse needs such as those of Deaf people and people with hearing loss.

We’d be extremely grateful if you’d be so kind as to share the survey below with your teams, colleagues, via your website; Intranet; social media; organisations and any individual that’d be interested.

With thanks for your co-operation and together we can ensure that Wales will be a dementia friendly nation.
