As a Dementia Champion I have been able to create Dementia Friends in my home town of Chirk. Faith groups and recreational groups were the first on my list.
The important area I was able to speak was Ysgol Y Waun, of which I am the Chair of Governors. I was able to make both teachers and a number of pupils Dementia Friends and the school is working towards becoming Dementia Friendly.
On “Denim For Dementia” day the school took part in the event and I was able to post a thank-you which was shared with all of the pupils.
Pre-Covid the children have been able to take part in intergenerational activities with the local nursing home with movement and dance which everyone enjoyed and we can’t wait for that to be possible again.
