The North Wales Wellbeing, Prevention and Anchor Framework sets out a shared regional commitment to improving health and wellbeing, preventing poor outcomes before they occur, and reducing inequalities across North Wales.
We know that good health is shaped by much more than access to health and care services. The places where people live, learn, work, travel and connect all have a profound impact on wellbeing throughout life. While North Wales has many strengths, including vibrant communities, a rich culture and a unique natural environment, not everyone experiences the same opportunities to live well. Too many people continue to face avoidable differences in life expectancy, healthy life expectancy and wider wellbeing outcomes.
This Framework has been developed to support collective action across the whole system. It provides a practical tool for partners across the public, voluntary and community sectors to align their work, build on existing strengths, and focus on the wider determinants of health. Through the seven Prevention Missions and the Regional Anchor Charter, the Framework encourages organisations and partnerships to work together in ways that are preventative, community-centred and grounded in long-term collaboration. To capture what’s already working well and accelerate learning across sectors in North Wales, partners are also encouraged share examples of notable practice on prevention, early intervention and wellbeing through this repository.
At the heart of this approach is the principle of working with communities as equal partners. People and communities hold invaluable knowledge, skills and assets, and sustainable change can only be achieved when they are actively involved in shaping the decisions and actions that affect their lives.
The Regional Partnership Board welcomes this Framework as an important step in strengthening our shared approach to wellbeing, prevention and reducing inequalities in North Wales. By adopting and using it, partners can help create the conditions in which everyone has the opportunity to flourish, now and for future generations.
